I am Martin Lotz, a composer focused on classical music for orchestra and chamber ensembles. I am a self-taught composer, driven by curiosity, deep exploration, and a passion for musical expression. Over many years, I have developed a distinctive compositional style that reflects both personal experiences and broader social themes.
My music often explores atonality, though typically anchored by tonal centers that provide orientation and depth. This results in a sound world where tension and resolution, instability and clarity, are in constant interplay. My works are characterized by dense harmonies, chromatic shifts, and unusual rhythmic structures—techniques that allow me to push traditional forms into new territory.
For example, my “Piano Concerto Op. 9” begins with a restrained string introduction, gradually unfolding into a powerful and contrasting piano part. The themes of the first movement reappear in varied forms throughout, weaving a cohesive motivic thread across the piece.
The “Piano Trio Op. 8” features an intense dialogue between piano, violin, and cello, balancing light, floating passages with darker, tension-filled moments. This duality—between light and shadow, stability and dissolution—is a hallmark of my work.
Looking ahead, my goal is to continue deepening my compositional language, integrating further contemporary influences to create fresh, resonant experiences.
I always welcome collaboration with musicians, ensembles, and organizers. For commissions or project inquiries, please feel free to get in touch.
